FAQ
Common Questions
Everything you need to know about mushroom supplements for your four-legged friend.
Are mushroom supplements safe for dogs?
Yes—supplement-grade functional mushrooms are generally very safe and well tolerated by dogs when used correctly. Varieties like Turkey tail, Reishi, Lion’s mane, and Cordyceps have a long history of use in traditional medicine and are well tolerated by most dogs.
It’s important to distinguish these from wild mushrooms, which can include toxic species. High-quality supplements are carefully sourced and formulated to be safe.
As with any supplement, stick to the recommended daily amount. A small number of dogs may be sensitive, and if your dog is on medication or has a specific health condition, it’s best to check with your vet before use.
How long before I see results?
Pet owners should notice changes within a 4-6 weeks, though results vary depending on your dog's age, routine, and needs. As with all supplements consistent daily use will give the best results.
We suggest a loading phase for the first month, where you give the supplement morning and evening instead of once daily. This helps the active ingredients to build up in the dog's system more effectively before moving to a standard dose.
Can I give more than one blend at the same time?
The short answer: yes, you can, but it’s worth being intentional about it.
Functional mushroom blends generally work well together because they support the body in complementary ways rather than 'overriding' each other. They are generally very well tolerated by dogs. That said, combining multiple blends at once increases the overall amount of active compounds your dog is getting, so it’s best to manage it carefully.
A simple way to approach it:
- Start with one blend first and give it 2–4 weeks.
- If needed, introduce a second blend gradually.
- Stick to recommended total daily amounts (don’t double everything)
- Watch for any sensitivity, especially in the first couple of weeks. Discontinue use if sensitivity occurs.
When combining makes sense:
- Targeting different needs (e.g. immune + mobility, or immune + digestion).
- Supporting dogs with more complex or long-term conditions.
When to be cautious:
If your dog is already on medication.
If they have a sensitive stomach.
If they have acute or long term health concerns.
If your dog is on medication or has a specific health concern it is always best to check with your vet before using supplements.
How do I serve it to my dog?
Simply sprinkle the recommended amount over your dog’s food. The powder is designed to mix easily into wet or dry meals.
We suggest starting with a loading dose for the first month, where you give the supplement morning and evening instead of once daily. This helps the active compounds build up in your dog's system more effectively before moving to a standard daily dose.
Is this suitable for puppies and nursing dogs?
While supplement-grade functional mushrooms are generally very safe for dogs, there is limited research in young dogs whose immune systems are still developing. We do not recommend our supplements for dogs under age 1. Similarly for pregnant mums it's best to be cautious and avoid during this time, without specific vet recommendation.
